Why buy a car at auction?

In a timed online auction, the price is set by fair competition between buyers, not by haggling with the seller. Everyone sees the same current bid and the same countdown, so you always know where you stand.

• A clear price, no haggling. No calls or meetings to talk the price down: you decide how much to bid, and the highest bid wins.
• Verified sellers. We check the seller's ID and every listing before a car goes live.
• Serious bidders. Only buyers with a verified ID, an active yearly plan and a saved card can bid.
• Your money is protected. You pay Going Once Cars, never the seller. We hold the money until the handover.

How to buy a car, step by step

1. Find a car. Browse live auctions, look at the photos from every angle, the damage and the details, and add the cars you like to your watchlist.
2. Bid. Bid step by step, or set a maximum and we bid for you, never above your limit. When the seller has set a Buy Now price, you can also buy the car straight away.
3. Win. If you have the highest bid when the countdown ends, and the seller's minimum price (if there is one) is reached, the car is yours.
4. Pay Going Once Cars. Within 3 business days you pay the price plus the buyer fee, by card or bank transfer. Never the seller.
5. Book a pickup time. Choose one of the times we offer and get your 6-character handover code.
6. Collect the car. Check the car, the keys and the documents, sign the sale contract together, and only then give the seller your code.

What you need to bid

Anyone can browse and watch cars. To place a bid, your account needs four things:

1. A finished account: your name as on your ID card or passport, your mobile number and your date of birth. You must be 18 or older.
2. A verified ID: a quick, one-time check with a scan of your document and a selfie.
3. An active yearly plan: Basic, which starts with 14 days free, or Business, in your account.
4. A saved, valid card: nothing is charged when you add it. There's no deposit and no money held on your card.

What it costs to buy a car

To bid you need a yearly plan. You pay the buyer fee only when you win: placing bids costs nothing.

Example on Basic: you win a car at €4,200. The buyer fee is 5%, so €210, and you pay €4,410 in total. The bid screen shows the fee and the total before you bid. Plan prices include VAT.

Basic starts with 14 days free. A card is required, but if you cancel before the 14 days end you pay nothing, and we email you a reminder before the trial ends. There's one free trial per person.

Business is for car dealers and traders: with its lower buyer fee, a single win of about €3,000 or more covers the difference in plan price. It has no free trial.

Tips for buying at a good price

• Set your limit before you start. Work out the total, the bid plus the buyer fee, and set it as your maximum bid. That way you don't rush in the final minutes.
• Read the whole listing. Look at every photo, the damage list, the mileage, the number of owners and the service history.
• Compare with similar cars. The car value check gives you an estimated value range. It's only an estimate, not a guarantee.
• Watch the cars you like. Add them to your watchlist and turn on notifications, so you know at once when someone bids higher.
• Don't worry about the last second. A bid in the last 2 minutes extends the auction by 2 minutes, so nobody wins with a last-second bid.
