Cookie Policy

Draft — pending legal review. This text explains how Going Once Cars will work. It is not final and may change before launch.

Our website, web marketplace and apps use the cookies and similar storage they need to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your language and keeping payments and ID checks secure. Only with your consent, our website and web marketplace also use the Meta Pixel to measure our ads. Our apps don’t use it.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Local storage and app storage work in a similar way. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of them. Essential cookies are needed for the service to work; optional ones, such as analytics or advertising, need your consent.

2. On our website

  • Your language choice and the plan you picked before signing in (browser storage).
  • Your cookie choice (browser storage, “goc-consent”), kept for 6 months; then we ask again.
  • Your sign-in session, shared by your account page and our web marketplace (browser storage, until you sign out or it expires).
  • The current GOC Assistant chat when you are not signed in, so the assistant can follow the conversation.
  • Stripe’s checkout and billing pages, which set their own cookies to prevent fraud and keep payments secure.
  • Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver our fonts but doesn't set cookies, and our hosting provider’s server logs, which are not stored on your device.

3. In our apps

  • Your sign-in session and app settings, such as your language and country.
  • A push notification token, once you allow notifications.
  • App updates delivered by Expo.
  • Stripe (when you save a card or pay) and Didit (when you verify your ID), which may use cookies or similar storage to keep payments and checks secure.

4. Optional: ad measurement with the Meta Pixel

  • Provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. Only on our website and web marketplace, never in our iPhone and Android apps.
  • Purpose: to measure whether our Facebook and Instagram ads bring people to our site and whether they sign up, start a plan or list a car, and to show our ads to people who may be interested.
  • Cookies: _fbp (identifies your browser to Meta, 3 months) and _fbc (the ad you clicked, when you arrive from one of our ads, 3 months), on goingoncecars.com; and a note in your browser storage so that a sign-up or a plan is counted only once.
  • What Meta receives: the page address, the event (a page view, a car viewed, an account created, a free trial or plan started, a listing submitted, the chat opened), your IP address and browser details. Never your name, email address or phone number: we don’t use advanced matching.
  • Consent: it only loads after you choose “Accept” (or turn it on under “Settings”). If you choose “Decline”, it doesn’t load at all. Meta uses the data under its own privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy) and may process it in the United States.

5. What we don’t use

We don’t use analytics cookies or social media buttons, and our iPhone and Android apps don’t track you. Our own visitor statistics use no cookies and store nothing on your device (Privacy Policy, “Visitor statistics”). The Meta Pixel is the only optional technology we use, and only with your consent.

6. How to control them

Change or withdraw your consent at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page of our website (in the web marketplace: Profile → Cookie settings). If you withdraw it, the Meta Pixel stops and its cookies are deleted from our site. In your browser you can also see, delete and block cookies and local storage; if you block essential storage, you may not be able to sign in, pay or verify your ID. In the apps you can sign out, clear the app’s data or uninstall it, and turn push notifications on or off in your device settings or under Profile → Notifications.
