Documents you need in both countries
- Your ID card or passport. For dealers, the ID of the person signing for the business. The name must match your account.
- The registration certificate (leja e qarkullimit), showing you as the owner.
- Proof of ownership, such as the purchase contract, if the car isn't registered in your name yet.
- The technical inspection certificate, if the car has a valid one.
- Insurance status: whether the compulsory insurance is valid, and until when.
- Customs clearance documents, for imported cars.
- A power of attorney, if someone else sells or hands over the car for the owner.
Keep them ready and show them to us if we ask during the listing check. Bring the registration certificate, every document you mentioned in the listing and all the keys to the handover.
In Albania
The main document is the registration certificate, which must show the seller as the owner. Also have the periodic technical inspection certificate ready, if the car has a valid one, and the customs clearance documents if the car was imported.
If the car has unpaid charges, such as fines, ask before the sale whether they have to be settled before ownership can be transferred.
In Kosovo
In Kosovo too, the main document is the registration certificate, showing the seller as the owner. Have the technical inspection certificate ready, if the car has a valid one, and the customs clearance documents for imported cars.
The rules can differ from those in Albania. If anything else is needed for your car, we tell you before the auction starts.
The VIN
The VIN (vehicle identification number) is the car's unique 17-character code. You'll find it on the registration certificate, at the bottom of the windscreen on the driver's side, or on the door pillar or under the bonnet, depending on the car. A VIN never contains the letters I, O or Q.
When you start a listing, enter the VIN and we fill in as many details as we can. Make sure it matches the documents: buyers check it at the handover.
The registration document check on Going Once Cars
In the listing steps you can photograph your registration certificate. We read it and fill in the VIN, make, model, first registration, engine size, power, fuel and colour. Check every field and correct anything that's wrong.
If the owner's name matches your verified ID, your listing shows "Registration document checked", which gives buyers extra confidence. The photo of the document stays private: only you and Going Once Cars staff can see it, and it's deleted 90 days after your listing ends.
The sale contract and the ownership transfer
At the handover, you and the buyer sign the sale contract that Going Once Cars prepares. It records the sale. Transferring ownership and registering the car in the buyer's name follow the law of the country where the car is registered, and may need a notarised contract and registration with the vehicle registration authority. Insurance, number plates and registration fees follow local rules.
We prepare the sale documents and tell you both what's needed for your sale. Keep your copy of every document.
