Guide for sellers

How to sell your car fast and at a fair price

A quick sale doesn't have to mean a low price. With your documents ready, good photos, an honest description and the right price, buyers compete for your car.

1. Get your documents ready first

A sale moves faster when the documents are ready before you list the car:

  • your ID card or passport;
  • the registration certificate, showing you as the owner;
  • proof of ownership, if the car isn't registered in your name yet;
  • the technical inspection certificate, if the car has a valid one;
  • customs clearance documents, for imported cars.

Requirements differ between Albania and Kosovo. The details are in documents you need to sell a car.

2. Clean the car and take good photos

The photos are the first thing a buyer sees. Wash the car, clean the inside and take out personal items. Shoot in daylight, hold your phone sideways and keep the whole car in the frame.

The app asks for 8 photos: front, rear, both sides, two three-quarter views, the dashboard with the mileage, and the front seats. Add the rear seats, the boot, the engine, the wheels and every bit of damage up close. We recommend 20 photos or more.

Cleaning should never hide damage. Photograph scratches and dents honestly: declared damage protects you after the sale.

3. Write an honest description

A good description answers buyers' questions before they ask them:

  • history: how long you've had the car, how it was used and how many owners it has had;
  • maintenance: the service history and recent work, with dates or mileage, such as the timing belt or chain, tyres, brakes and clutch;
  • condition: anything that doesn't work as it should, and any known faults or noises;
  • what's included: the number of keys, winter tyres and other extras.

Don't add phone numbers, emails or links: all contact goes through GOC. And don't hide faults: a clear listing sells faster and avoids disputes at the handover.

4. Find the right price

Not sure what the car is worth? Use What's my car worth?. You get a value range, a suggested starting price and a suggested minimum price. It's only an estimate, not an offer.

  • The starting price (at least €500) is where bidding begins. A lower starting price usually brings more bidders.
  • The hidden minimum price (optional) is the lowest price you'll accept. Buyers don't see it. If the auction ends below it, you have 24 hours to decide.

For most cars this combination works well: a low starting price and a hidden minimum at the lowest amount you'd accept. Without a minimum, the car sells at the highest bid, even if that bid is low.

5. Choose the auction length and end time

You choose how long the auction runs, from 1 to 7 days. For most cars 2–3 days is a good choice; up to 7 days gives more buyers time to see it. Pick a start time so the auction ends when people are free, for example in the evening, not in the middle of the night.

6. Auction or fixed price?

  • Auction: buyers compete and the highest bid wins. You can also add a Buy Now price (at least 10% above the starting price) so a buyer can close the sale early.
  • Fixed price: no bidding, for 7, 14 or 30 days. The first verified buyer who pays your price gets the car.

If you want an answer within days, an auction gives you a result in 1 to 7 days, depending on the length you choose.

7. During the auction

You get a notification for every bid. A live auction can't be edited, so check your listing carefully before you submit it. Never bid on your own car or ask anyone to do it for you. Buyers' questions come through GOC.

8. Handover and payment

When the car sells, the buyer pays Going Once Cars within 3 business days. At the handover you check the buyer's ID, you both sign the sale contract, and you enter the buyer's handover code in the app. Don't hand over the keys before the code is accepted.

We pay you 1–2 business days after the handover, by bank transfer to your IBAN: the price minus the €50 success fee. If the car doesn't sell, you pay nothing.
